About us

Paving the way for new inflammatory rheumatic disease treatment

The Swiss Clinical Quality Management in Rheumatic Diseases Foundation (SCQM) has set itself an ambitious goal: We want to open new avenues into the treatment of inflammatory rheumatic diseases. To achieve this, we rely on close collaboration between doctors, patients, and researchers. Our national patient registry was launched in 1997.

Our vision

We make new therapeutic approaches for inflammatory rheumatic diseases possible: With high-quality data. And for the 200,000 patients in Switzerland alone.

Our mission

To achieve our goal, we act as the preferred partner of rheumatologists in Switzerland. To this end, we provide a quality management tool and a research platform that supports innovative research approaches and leads to a better quality of treatment. We enable evidence-based decision-making that benefits not only the numerous patients but also the general public.

Our three core values

1. We are committed to quality

SCQM promotes continuous improvement in the quality of treatment for:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (polyarthritis)
  • Axial spondyloarthritis (ankylosing spondylitis)
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Giant cell arteritis (RZA)
  • Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR)

To achieve this, we rely on a national database that makes connections between signs of progression, subjective experience of the disease, and therapeutic treatments visible to medical professionals and patients.

2. Research is our goal

The SCQM Foundation attaches great importance to independent research and does not pursue any financial, economic, or political interests. This independence allows us to make basic research data available and to sustainably promote independent scientific studies. In our work, we cooperate closely with national and international institutions and professional organisations. Thanks to close cooperation with our stakeholders, we can optimize the potential of our approach and together achieve new goals.

3. Innovation is our way

We focus on research and innovation - both as a foundation and in our daily work. With the SCQM database, we create sustainable added value: for rheumatological research, for patients, and for current and future generations.
